I totally forgot!
ok, Before we left town we had to stop by the office and give some guy a check. This is a ratty part of town, pretty busy street, people drive crazy fast up and down here, its right by the highway.
OK so as we leave I see this little girl, she had to be a year old or so, standing on the curb, eating a ice cream cone. I was like "OMG! Babe look!" so we get up to her and pull over, thinking maybe her mom is standing right behind the wall. Shes not. This little girl is out here all alone! So I asked her "where is your mama baby?" she starts walking towards me, saying "ma ma ma ma." Steve jumped out of the car and told her not to come into the street. He didn't want to touch her because he didn't want to be accused of anything. So I scooped her up and knocked on the closest door. Steve wanted to call the cops but I told him not yet, lemme look for her mama. So no one answered the door. And BTW, this child was adorable and FILTHY, wearing no diaper. So I walked around the corner and see this lady outside talking on the phone. I'm like "hi, is she yours?" shes like "OMG! OMG! Where was she?" I lied and told her she was in the street. I was trying to scare her. LOL Hopefully she will watch her kid better. She was like "I didn't even know she was gone! I was right here! omg!" In retrospect, she didn't even scoop her kid up...weird. Then I was like "hey, I got kids too, I know how fast they get away. You need some baby gates!" she was like "OMG! OMG! Thank you!" and I left. I heard her get back on the phone and say "OMG!" Me and Steve talked abut it for awhile. We hope we didn't make the wrong decision in not calling the cops. I could have easily kidnapped that little girl... or ran her over! How scary. But as a mother, I know that kids can get away fast and I didn't want to call the cops. Maybe I should have. I don't know. She was really cute.
