NAK

So, today was interesting. We went and saw the pediatrician. We were asked 4 times if we were going to vaccinate her but no one gave us any shit when we said no. The doctor examines Bree and says everything looks good. Then we get into a discussion over vaccinations. She (the doc) agrees that there are questionable things in vaccinations. She was cool with us refusing them. My Dh, bless his heart, was going on and on and on blah blah blah. (if you know my dh you are laughing right now) So somehow we got to talking about chicken pox. She said no vaccination is 100% I said yes but if you get the disease then you are immune for life. She said no,that's not true.

Hmmm. I'll have to look into that. I was under the impression once you had chicken pox then your set. Anyone have any info on that?

Then as we are talking (or while Steve is talking) Bree is getting fussy and wants to nurse. So of course I let her nurse. Then the doc says that because I nurse her as much as I do I need to really be diligent in brushing her teeth because breastmilk has more sugar then formula....pppfffttttttt! I literally said that. lol Then I tried to play it off and said ok, I'll make sure to brush. ((rolls eyes)) There is more but I haven't decided if I'm gonna post it yet. kinda private.

But Bree is healthy and it went well. I need to go do some more research on vaccines. What would I do without MDC?

And she wrote out our "homework" on a formula advertisement! grrrrr

(our homework was turn car seat forward facing ((rolls eyes)) get a thermometer and brush teeth)

Hrmmm...well, I have read that if a child has a very minor case or gets chicken pox before they're one year old, they may not have lasting immunity. I know that my great-grandmother had chicken pox twice.

But, compared to the vaccination that doesn't give a kid any chance at lasting immunity, that small chance is much better.
